H for Holidays. H for Hosting!
Serve the season of gatherings but make it chic. Welcome to another blog that aims to bring happy moments to savor at the dining table. Talking about feasting, how can we skip the best time of the year—the Holidays?
Creating a winter wonderland in a cozy intimate setting can be both fun and refreshing. Although we are gonna help you with super easy tricks, the chill in the air makes it great to do a little running around to create the perfect ambiance (look out for additional tips in the end!)
To warm up, let's get into the spirit of Christmas. Think twinkling lights, pouring out some bubbly, and adding a dash of warmth to your days. (How about some hot chocolate and marshmallows?) Following this festive magic, comes the big New Year’s Eve dinner! So, let's create a vibe for the holiday season that makes you an unforgettable host -
Get creative with the centerpiece
There are a million centerpieces one can create (or buy) around the season. But we feel nothing is more satisfying and heartfelt than a good DIY. So don’t stress, just stretch some greens along the middle of your table, and add some flowers like red roses, red and blue grapes, cherries, pomegranates, and yellow pears or lemons.
Light 'em up
Make it feel Christmassy with the soft glow of candles! Set the romance in place by adding pillar candles to glass tumblers, vases, or candle stands. A quick tip, you can create beautiful candle holders by just filling old glass bottles with faux leafy stems and water (also add some glitter).
Bow down to the bow trend
When in doubt, tie a bow! The bow trend is here to stay and is the easiest way to add color, character, or charm to your decor. On the napkins, candle stands, stems of your glassware, or even the menu, it can go anywhere, and that too in style!
Make the classic pop
Color vs neutral is a never-ending debate for us. So we found a mid-way that also makes a unique statement! You can go with a muted color palate or a traditional red-green theme, but make it interesting with pops of color. Pops of red, green, and blue to a muted setting or pops of white, sky blue, and beige to a red-green theme!
What's on the menu?
Menu cards on each place setting, by the plate or on the plate, can add an inviting touch. Cute little menu cards with your dishes listed are a great way to add something extra to the setting. It also works up the appetite of your guests in anticipation and puts your efforts on the plate.
Fun and festive name tags
We had so much fun with this one! Add flair to your table by cutting out cards with zigzag scissors, paint a wine glass in your choice of color, and add your guest's name. Tie a bow and place it on the card, wherever you prefer. And voila!
Fragrant decor screams holidays!
Incorporating dried oranges & limes brings a dash of nature’s beauty and a subtle holiday fragrance to the table. The rustic aesthetic also gives your decor an elegant and thoughtful edge. While at it, go for a few aroma candles, fragrant flowers, potpourri, or a seasonal room freshener.
Additional touches-
- You can add a few twigs and small thin branches (no better muse than nature)
- Plan the menu ahead and serve a signature cocktail for the meal
- Layer fabrics with curtains, tablecloths, or napkins and add comforting bright cushions
- Add the magic of fairy lights or sprinkle some glitter/faux snow on the centerpiece (away from the food)
- A personal little gift can ace up the holiday happiness
- Deck up the room with a Christmas tree, wreaths, or some mistletoe over the door
The best time of the year is all about celebrating life and the people who make it special. It’s the friends and family around the table who light up the season with warmth and cheer. Hosting with your heart, we believe is one of the purest forms of expressing your love. So, prep up, deck up, and serve a beautiful gathering that says “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
Happy Holidays-Cheers.
