With superior Japanese artistry and attention to detail, Noritake has been bringing beauty and quality to dining tables around the world for over a century (120 years). Established on 4 Jan 1904, Noritake (formerly known as Nippon Toki Gomei Kaisha) crafts tableware with a commitment to perfection and the use of superior materials to last generations.
Their fine dinnerware designs embody functional grace, traditional aesthetics, and timeless superior quality. Using innovative techniques and a deep thought process, the design stories are inspired by different aspects of life, making each ware a unique piece of art.
The journey began with the Morimura Brothers starting a trading company in New York in 1876 that imported chinaware, and other items. By 1878, they started selling Japanese antiques and other goods, including pottery. By the 1890s, the company had shifted from retail to wholesale operations and made design improvements for its pottery and porcelain ware (one-third of its business.)
In 1904, the seed of the Noritake Company was planted in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan. By the early 1920s, Noritake introduced assembly line techniques allowing mass production of high-quality, yet affordable dinnerware. Since then, there was no looking back! They continued to evolve and expand their production and market worldwide.
Today, Noritake is an acknowledged leader in tableware manufacturing and marketing with global subsidiaries, factories, and affiliates spanning over 100 countries.
