“I believe in the power of handmade items to evoke emotions, create memories, and enhance the beauty of everyday life.”

Parul Sao’s journey into ceramics is one of quiet discovery of finding joy in the feel of clay, in forms that take shape slowly, and in pieces that carry a little bit of soul.

Originally from a town in Chhattisgarh, Parul grew up surrounded by the love for making things by hand. Her creative foundation was laid early with toys crafted from scratch and an endless curiosity about how things come together. This instinct eventually led her to study architecture, where she explored scale, structure, and material from a designer’s lens.

But it was during a hand-building workshop that she first encountered clay in its most intimate form. Something about its rawness and responsiveness drew her in. What began as a chance encounter soon turned into a calling.

To deepen her practice, she enrolled in the program at Golden Bridge Pottery in Puducherry, a space that has nurtured generations of ceramic artists in India. There, Parul trained in traditional wood-firing techniques and immersed herself in both the technical and philosophical sides of the craft. The process taught her patience, precision, and a deep respect for the material.

What began with a single workshop has now taken shape as Parul Sao Ceramics, a studio and brand rooted in mindful making and everyday functionality. Based in Bengaluru, it reflects Parul’s quiet aesthetic which is minimal yet grounded, with soft, earthy tones and silhouettes that feel both considered and spontaneous.

Her pieces are largely wheel-thrown, often textured and tactile, designed to be held, used, and lived with. Whether it’s the curve of a cup or the presence of a bowl on the table, her work gently celebrates the beauty of everyday rituals.

For Parul, ceramics are about the presence. Each piece is a pause, an invitation to slow down, gather, and find joy in the simple act of use.
