Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a name that needs no introduction in the world of fashion. The renowned Indian designer has taken the world by storm with his unique blend of traditional and contemporary styles. And now, he has set his sights on the city of Mumbai with the launch of his newest store, which opened its doors on the 18th of April, 2023.

Located in a stunning neo-classical building that was once home to the British Bank of The Middle East, the flagship store boasts a whopping 25,862 square feet of space. From the moment you step inside, you are transported to a world of pure luxury and beauty.

But it's not just the grandeur of the space that leaves you awestruck; it's the attention to detail that Sabyasachi has put into every aspect of the store. As he himself admits, he fell short of antiques massively during the process of decorating the space. But this didn't stop him from creating a haven in the midst of a bustling city.

The new Mumbai flagship store takes this to a whole new level. With over 100 hand-cut chandeliers, 275 carpets, 3,000 books, and 150 works of art created by the Sabyasachi Foundation, the store is truly a feast for the eyes.

The store is a treasure trove of traditional Indian artworks, rare French Art Nouveau cabinets, 18th-century Venetian handcrafted chairs, Tang dynasty pottery, and countless other treasures. And all of these beautiful pieces find their homes around the floor after floor of Sabyasachi's stunning creations.

On the ground floor, you'll find the Sabyasachi bridal collection, as well as a micro-exhibit featuring archive pieces from previous showcases. But that's just the beginning. Head up to the first floor, and you'll be dazzled by sparkling jewelry sets from Sabyasachi's Fine, Heritage, and High Jewellery lines. The second floor houses a vast range of menswear and womenswear, along with international collections and accessories. From intricately embroidered lehengas to exquisitely crafted sherwanis, the store has something to offer everyone.

But what sets Sabyasachi apart from other designers is his unwavering commitment to quality craftsmanship. "I stick to my core value: quality craftsmanship," he says. And this is evident in every piece of clothing and jewelry he creates. Sabyasachi is a retro revivalist with a connection to his birthplace. And this connection is reflected in every aspect of his work. The symbolism of a bygone era in Kolkata is displayed in each of his stores in India- antique hand-painted chandeliers, time-worn rugs, and attar bottles from the raucous market in Hyderabad and Lucknow.

As we entered Sabyasachi’s new store, we were struck by the unwavering commitment to quality craftsmanship on display. The store seamlessly combines design, culture, heritage, and art, taking us back to our roots. Lagavi believes that true beauty lies in the creation of handpicked products, and every item showcased in the store is a testament to the brand's dedication to creating true works of art. From the intricate designs to the delicate embroidery, it was evident that no detail had been overlooked in the pursuit of perfection. One could almost hear the whispers of the artisans who poured their hearts and souls into each piece, emanating from their place of origin.
